Mr Average

"Hi Clive, just back from Hawaii and I heard "Enrico's Song" on the DS website tonight. I think I see your strategy, a mini-album but with MEGA tunes. Winner. All the best, Duff."

The band would love to hear what you think of their new material...
The first time I heard the new material was at the o2 Glasgow, and I was blown away. The haunting track of Enrico on 'Goodbye to all that' was further enhanced by Ian Ritchie on Alto Sax. I managed to sing along with Enrico which is weird.
It's my favourite, purchased the cd, which arrived today... and this track has been played 20 times already. Then followed up with a riotious guitar riff, and Bette in background. still have goosebumps... single release? hell yeah!!!!!!
As for the Enrico Song, fantastic, seems slight suggestion of Bowie, vocals..
'I Know I Know' has Bette at her best since Taxi ... now I need more....
ITS LIKE GOING BACK TO English Boys Working Girls Nice Sax Ritchie still in the same groove keep it going great memories for ME !!!!!!!!!! An OLD AND NEW FAN XX
Great mini album all songs real quality, lets hope we get a full album next.see you all on the tour cheers steve and crazyxxx

Scary Girlfriend....reminds me of my youth:-)) Another fine track off what already sounds like a great album and future live classics.
Too right Bob, another great track with great vocals and highlights DS versatility and creativity. Looking foward to getting my hands on the mini album!
Happy New Year everyone!
Scary Girlfriend, Another Great Track , Great Vocals from the Highly Impressible Mr Cadillac, Can't wait to get my hands on this Album !!!!!!
Goobye to all that is the epitome of classic DS really moving and a special tribute to Sam. Congratulations to all of the band for making the new songs and album keep the new stuff coming.See you all in feb Stevexxx
Goodbye To All That already a live classic now sounds great at home. Terrific arrangement and special lyrics which mean so much on so many levels. Thank you DS.
The new material is incredible folks, thanks for letting us hear it in advance of the release! Looking forward to seeing you in Glasgow in February..
Loved all of the new tracks so far - cannot wait to hear them live. Brilliant. You have made my Christmas and New Year. :)
Wow what a great Christmas present! Truly 'an epic Deaf School composition'. The last verse is a truly fitting tribute to Sam.
Yep you're right Deafster, remembering Sam waving goodbye makes this song all the poignant. Brings back great (and some sad) memories of some brilliant gigs Sept. 09 in 'pool.
This is classic DS, well worth waiting 33 years for! Scott
Hairs in the back of my neck stood up, danced round a bit then sat down breathlessly, before recovering for the "Ferry" (Gerry not Brian) finale. Great stuff!
Goodbye to all that sounds like something you find on Bowies Hunky Dory.Brilliant stuff.can't wait to get to probe in the 28thJan for the CD and 12th Feb can't come early enough.
SUPERB
Six minutes of pure Deaf School magic. I loved this in Liverpool and I know I will love it at London,Leeds etc in 2011. Its got to be the new single chaps!! Or maybe a double A side with I Know I know!! Deaf School are back, with the Album of the year! See yous in 2011.

Great lyrics, great guitar, great vocals, well just great everything! Loving it!
Not long to go now!......
A very Merry Christmas to the band and all Deafsters out there. Scott
Great jangly guitar intro sounding like a marriage between Chuck Berry and Johnny Marr, leading into another vocal delight from the wonderful Miss Bright.
Another great new release to be thankful for - a Merry Christmas to DS and all Deafsters out there:-)
Another fab tune .. thanks DS

Great to hear new sounds from the deaf school!
Can't wait to hear the whole stuff... good luck for the upcoming tour (which sadly won't lead you to Germany, or will it?!) .
An avid fan since "2nd Honeymoon"-days,
yours Mayo*
'I Know I Know' Great Vocals from Mrs Bright, only a Mini-Album but so far full of Great Tracks, Cant wait for the next two, Bring It On !!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful, just like the old days, just ike you did before. More please. Thanks
Paul
Shivers and goosebumps just as when I first heard DS all those years ago.Fantastic.
Hi to you all,
It's great to finally heard the new stuff, really liked both songs and they are definately both growers, I though Enrico's song had elements of Bowie cira Lodger period and there's more than a hint of "madness's" bass or keyboards sound in there, but all add up to still sounding distinctively Deaf school with a new twist, great stuff, good luck with tour and mini album release looking foreward to liverpool gig next year,,,, have a great Christmas to the band and all you fellow DS lsteners, cheers Dave -p
U Turn Away - great new tune with a hook line that I can't get out of my head. I agree with the earlier comment on the Philly/Mowtown influence but with the unmistakable sound of DS at their best. This is seriously good stuff.
Another fantastic classic DS song. The magic is still there! Look forward to seeing/hearing the songs live again soon! Scott
soz got that carried away that got the title wrong
U turn around catchy guitar, hard driven drums, brill sax and super mature vocals. The 30 plus year gap has been filled with sheer magic. Keep the new songs coming cheers steve and Kath
Absolutely brilliant welcome back!!
U turn away ... absolutely fantastic, real dancin tune ... well done Miss Bette x
OK we had to wait 32 years (and a few days because of 'gremlins' on the website lol) but it was worth it! You turn away - brilliant, well done Bette. Two tracks heard both excellent, bring on the others, please. 32 years ago the time might not of been right but if someone in the know could promote these new tracks around the media the time is right NOW!
Russ
YOU TURN AWAY Classic Deaf School Track with GREAT Riffs from Mr Ritchie, with the New Mini Lp was A Double Album, Bring on the Next Track !!!!!!!!
Even better than when it was previewed at Newmarket, can't wait to hear it live again!
Wonderful! Highly melodic and dramatic, with elements of Philly Soul, Motown, and Broadway. I never understood how Deaf School could amaglamate all these disparate American influences and still create a unique sound all their own. It must be in Liverpool's water! Thanks so much!
Fantastic! What an early Christmas pressie! Classic DS, roll on Jan/Feb can't wait!!
Norwichman
Hi
Thrilled to hear deaf school are touring and a mini albut cant wait. Seen you guys many times in the 70's and Empire, brill
Looking fwd to it
nostalgia isn't what it used to be but deaf school are so much more than that. classic DS song. I'll be there at the academy for a 2011 musical highlight doubt me not.
Bettes song was great at the Dublin Castle and I think Cambridge on tenter hooks waiting for the studio version. Cheers Steve
Can't wait til next week when the the fabulous Bette B lets rip with her motowny stomper 'U Turn Away'!! Git along Miss Bette!!
Classic DS. Totally addictive. Great lyrics with everybody contributing brilliantly to a fabulous song. Love it!
very good bit like bowie meets madness with ken dodds wheres me shirt thrown in i like in
Already stated in no uncertain terms on Facebook but I'm thrilled, loved it immediately. Bette's right, classic DS territory. Good on ya, then, thanks and, umm....MORE PLEASE!!
how wonderfully satisfying to hear a band with such history, still be able to deliver music bearing all the hallmarks of their classics - you always hope for that but often are disappointed - not in this case, really love the feel and the evocative imagery of this song and can't wait to hear the rest. A mini-album with Mega tracks! Love it.
"there's more to it than that though" you've got to play it well - and they do!
Another great song, I can vaguely remember it at one concert or another earlier this year and half expected to hear it again at another.
Looking forward to it live again next year.
hi Russ I will give as much help as possible to set up the convention
cheers Steve ( we should speak on either capaldis or my deaf school)
Oh Yes Oh Yes Takes me back to my college years following DS. Already sourcing clothes for Birmingham gig just as I did 30+ years ago. Looking forward to hearing next tracks. Any chance of new tracks being released on vinyl?
Anyone nterested in helping me set up an annual Deaf School Convention?
Welldone all its great to have you back
Song sounds fab, dare I say that I can hear 'Sugsy influences'?!! Looking forward to the new ones each week, and what a treat having the sneak previews. Can't wait for L'pool Feb 2011 bring it on la x
A great new song which (I think) was previewed live earlier this year? As always with DS - there's more to this than meets the eye, a song full of style and a great tune. Can't wait for the weekly releases.
Like Lynn I was a bit trepidatious (as a second gen deafster I grew up with 2nd Honeymoon) - but needn't have worried, cool as ever and instantly catchy, I love it (as does my 3rd gen deafster who's been having a boogie along!) Can't wait for the Manchester in Feb!!
I was abit worried what the new songs would be like cos i love the old stuff BUT i shouldnt of worried, its fab and i keep playing it,cant wait to hear the other tracks and hear them live when i see you in jan in london, keep up the good work x
Brill new song gets better with each play ,j Sax haunting towards the end.Just wish I was young enough to go out in hardman Street. Can hear Clives influence Keep the new songs coming
